  • Poliprintable: Ideal for custom printing on synthetic fabrics, providing a smooth finish.
  • Screen Print: A classic method for large batches, delivering long-lasting and high-quality prints.
  • Vinyl: Versatile and durable, great for intricate designs and various fabric types.
  • Glitter Vinyl: Adds a sparkling effect to your designs, perfect for eye-catching customizations.
  • Hard Surface: Suitable for transferring designs onto hard surfaces like mugs and phone cases.

Each method offers unique benefits to suit different needs and preferences.

How long do your transfers last?

The lifespan of heat transfers depends on various factors, including wear and tear, washing cycles, and washing temperature. While our transfers are designed to be durable, their longevity can vary based on how the item is cared for. Proper washing and handling will help extend the life of your heat transfers.

Do you have quantity discounts or bulk pricing?

Yes, we offer quantity discounts on custom t-shirts, with lower prices as your order size increases. To qualify, all shirts must feature the same artwork, but you can mix and match styles, colors, and sizes. Bulk pricing does not apply if each shirt has a different design.

Can I order just one shirt?

Yes, you can order just one custom t-shirt. We create one-off shirts all the time! If your design is highly detailed, there may be an additional charge for graphic design. Let us know what you need, and we’ll make it happen!

What is the minimum order quantity for custom apparel?

There is no minimum order quantity for our custom t-shirts and graphic tees. Most apparel can be ordered individually. However, some specialty items may require a minimum order, though this is rare. If this applies to your order, we’ll let you know upfront!

Can I mix and match styles and sizes in one order?

Yes, you can mix and match styles and sizes in one order. However, to qualify for a quantity discount, the artwork and transfer type must be the same across all items. This ensures consistency in production and pricing. Let us know your needs, and we’ll help you find the best option!

What apparel brands do you carry?

We carry a wide range of apparel brands to fit your needs. Some of our most popular options include Gildan, Jerzees, Next Level, Bella+Canvas, Comfort Colors, Sport-Tek, Badger, Adidas, J America, and Port Authority. If you’re looking for a specific brand, let us know—we may be able to get it!

How do I know which transfer type is right for my project?

Choosing the right transfer type depends on your project needs. We break down each transfer type, its application method, best use cases, and pros and cons on our Application Methods page. If you need further guidance, feel free to reach out through our Help Center—we’re happy to help!

Can I purchase heat transfers from Coey's Closet and heat press myself?

Yes! You can purchase custom heat transfers from our sister company, Coey Tech. We offer DTF, screen print, vinyl, embroidery, and more. Our Gang Sheet Builder lets you design and arrange your own prints for maximum efficiency. Sizing Guides & Custom Apparel Care FAQs

How do I find the right size for my apparel?

Each product page in our online store includes detailed sizing information. Scroll down to the bottom of the page, where you’ll see a description tab. Next to it, click on the Size Chart tab to view sizing details specific to that product. Be sure to review the chart before ordering to ensure the best fit!

Do you have a size chart for your products?

Yes! Every product page in our online store includes a size chart. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the Size Chart tab located next to the product description. This chart provides measurements specific to that item to help you choose the perfect fit.

What is the best way to wash and care for custom apparel?

To keep your custom apparel looking its best, always turn garments inside out before washing and drying. Use low temperatures and a mild detergent to preserve the design’s color and quality. Avoid bleach, harsh chemicals, and never iron directly over the design. With proper care, your custom pieces from Coey’s Closet will stay vibrant and fresh wear after wear.

Can I machine dry my custom t-shirts or hoodies?

Yes, you can machine dry your custom apparel — but to protect the design, follow these care tips:

  • Tumble dry on low heat only. High heat can cause cracking, fading, or lifting of transfers (especially glitter and vinyl).

  • Always turn garments inside out before drying to reduce friction on the design.

  • Avoid fabric softeners in the dryer; they can weaken adhesive over time.

  • Remove promptly once dry to avoid unnecessary wrinkles or heat exposure.

  • Air drying is safest if you want to maximize longevity — especially for delicate or high-detail transfers.

Will colors fade after washing?

Each type of transfer has its own expected lifespan based on the number of washes. While some fading over time is normal, following our care instructions—like washing inside out, using low heat, and avoiding harsh chemicals—will help keep colors vibrant and extend the life of your custom apparel.

How do I care for glitter or rhinestone transfers?

Proper care keeps your sparkle shining!

  • Glitter Transfers: Wash inside out with mild detergent in cool or cold water. Remove promptly from the washer. Tumble dry on warm or hang dry. Do not dry clean or iron directly on the design.

  • Rhinestone Transfers: Wash inside out on a gentle cycle with cold water. Use mild detergent and lay flat or hang to dry.

  • Spangle Transfers: Wash inside out with warm water and mild detergent. Tumble dry on a normal setting. Dry cleaning is OK.

Following these steps will help your custom designs last longer and keep their shine!

Are there special instructions for performance fabrics?

Yes! Wash performance fabrics inside out in cold water with mild detergent. Avoid fabric softeners, which can affect stretch and breathability. Tumble dry on low or hang dry, and never iron directly on the design. Following these steps helps preserve both the fabric and the print.

Artwork & Graphic Design

What file formats do you accept for custom designs?

The best file format for custom artwork is a vector file such as AI, EPS, or SVG. These formats provide sharp, high-quality results and can be resized without losing clarity. If a vector file isn’t available, a high-resolution PNG (300 DPI)with a transparent background is the next best option. Avoid low-resolution files like JPEGs or GIFs, as they may produce poor print quality.

What resolution should my artwork be?

For the best print quality, artwork should be at least 300 DPI (dots per inch) at the size it will be printed. This ensures your design looks sharp and clear. Low-resolution images may appear blurry or pixelated when printed, so higher resolution is always recommended.

Can you create a design for me if I don't have one?

Absolutely! If you don’t have a design, our team can create one for you. We offer full graphic design services at a rate of $85.00 per hour. Whether you need a simple layout or a detailed custom design, we’re here to help bring your ideas to life.

Do you charge extra for artwork or design services?

Yes, we offer design services for an additional fee. If your artwork needs to be converted to a vector file, pricing starts at $50. For custom graphic design projects, our rate starts at $85/hour. We’re happy to work with you to bring your vision to life!

What is vector artwork, and why is it required?

Vector artwork is made of paths and shapes, not pixels, so it can be scaled to any size without losing quality. This makes it ideal for printing clean, sharp designs on apparel. Using vector files ensures your custom prints look professional, crisp, and accurate every time.

Can I use copyrighted images for my custom apparel?

No, we cannot print copyrighted images unless you have proper authorization to use them. This includes purchasing a license or having written permission from the copyright owner. We may require proof of this before printing any copyrighted content. Without proper rights, printing copyrighted material can lead to legal consequences for both you and us. To protect all parties, we strictly follow copyright laws and will not reproduce any content without valid documentation.

How do I ensure my colors match when printed?

For digital heat transfers, our printers use the color values from your file (HEX or CMYK) to ensure accurate color reproduction. Keep in mind that colors may look different on screens due to monitor or phone settings. What you see may vary slightly from what is printed.
For materials like vinyl, glitter, rhinestones, and spangles, colors are limited to what’s available in those products and what we have in stock. If exact color matching is critical, please contact us in advance to discuss options.

What size should my artwork be?

When creating artwork for heat transfers, it’s best to design it larger than your intended print size. This helps preserve sharpness and detail when resizing. For example, if your final print will be 10 inches wide, try designing it at 15 inches or more. Starting large gives you flexibility to scale down without losing quality.

Common Issues With Custom Apparel

I pressed my own heat transfer and it didn't adhere correctly. What should I do?

If your heat transfer didn’t stick properly, start by checking the temperature and time settings on your heat press. Make sure you’re using the correct settings for the type of transfer material. It’s also important to use a quality heat press that applies even, consistent pressure.

Additionally, consider the fabric type—some materials require prep work (like wiping with alcohol) before pressing to ensure proper adhesion. Materials with coatings, moisture-wicking properties, or high stretch can sometimes resist transfers.

If you’re still unsure, reach out to us with details about your settings, fabric, and transfer type, and we’ll be happy to help troubleshoot.

The colors on my apparel look different that expected-why?

Color differences can happen for a few reasons. Screens on phones, tablets, and monitors all display colors differently based on their settings, so the printed color may not match exactly what you saw online. For digital prints, we use the color values (HEX or CMYK) from your artwork to ensure accurate output. If you’re using specialty materials like vinyl, glitter, or spangles, colors are limited to what’s available in stock and may vary slightly.

How do I remove wrinkles from heat-applied transfers?

If the wrinkles are in the transfer and garment together, re-pressing the item with proper heat and pressure may help smooth them out. However, if the fabric was wrinkled underneath the transfer during pressing, those wrinkles are typically permanent. That’s why it’s important to pre-press the apparel to remove any wrinkles before applying your heat transfer.

What can I do if I pressed my heat transfer and I placed it incorrectly?

Once a transfer is pressed, it’s usually permanent—so fixing placement mistakes can be tricky. In some cases, chemicalsmay help remove part of the design. If you have an extra transfer, you might be able to cut out the section you need (like a letter or shape) and carefully repress it in the correct spot. However, results aren’t guaranteed, so we recommend double-checking placement before pressing.

Can I fix peeling vinyl or rhinestone transfers?

A properly applied transfer shouldn’t peel. Peeling often happens when washing or drying guidelines aren’t followed. In some cases, you may be able to re-press the area to improve adhesion, but if the adhesive has already broken down, it likely won’t reattach fully. To prevent peeling, always follow the recommended care instructions and apply transfers with the correct heat, pressure, and time.

My order didn't arrive on time, what are my options?

Because all items are made to order, we recommend placing your order well in advance, especially if you have a specific deadline. Apparel availability may depend on our distributors, which can affect processing time. Once an item is completed, it is not eligible for returns or exchanges. If you’re working with a tight timeline, please contact us before placing your order to ask about expedited options.
